EC Sensitivity of Hydroponically-Grown Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Types in Terms of Nitrate Accumulation

چکیده
The goal of this research was to investigate the effect electrical conductivity (EC) levels nutrient solution on fresh weight, chlorophyll, and nitrate content hydroponic-system-grown lettuce. selected cultivars are most representative commercial varieties grown for European markets. Seven (‘Sintia,’ ‘Limeira,’ ‘Corentine,’ ‘Cencibel,’ ‘Kiber,’ ‘Attiraï,’ ‘Rouxaï’) three Lactuca sativa L. types’ (butterhead, loose leaf, oak leaf) were in a phytotron rockwool, meanwhile EC level solutions different: normal (<1.3 dS/m) high (10 dS/m). plants saline condition had lower yield but elevated chlorophyll level, although ‘Limeira’ ‘Cencibel’ reduced levels. results special characteristic lollo-type showed that could be very different due salinity (‘Limeira’ lowest (684 µg/g weight (FW)) highest (4396 FW)). There moderately strong negative correlation (?0.542) reverse ratio among contents treated with value, while relationship not shown condition. Under condition, acted differently, all examined stayed under permitted total (5000 FW).

Systematic silencing of a tobacco nitrate reductase transgene in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.).
A population of 50 independent transgenic lettuces transformed with a nitrate reductase coding sequence under the control of the 35S promoter was studied. None of them showed significantly lower nitrate levels when compared with the untransformed plants, despite the presence of nitrate reductase (NR) activity that derives from the transgene in at least four of the transformants. No repercussion...
متن کاملEffects of Nitrogen Fertilizers on the Growth and Nitrate Content of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)
Nitrogen is an essential element for plant growth and development; however, due to environmental pollution, high nitrate concentrations accumulate in the edible parts of these leafy vegetables, particularly if excessive nitrogen fertilizer has been applied. Consuming these crops can harm human health; thus, developing a suitable strategy for the agricultural application of nitrogen fertilizer i...
متن کاملGenetic Control of Water and Nitrate Capture and Their Use Efficiency in Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)
Robustness in lettuce, defined as the ability to produce stable yields across a wide range of environments, may be associated with below-ground traits such as water and nitrate capture. In lettuce, research on the role of root traits in resource acquisition has been rather limited. Exploring genetic variation for such traits and shoot performance in lettuce across environments can contribute to...

Quantifying and simulating the relationships between crop growth, total-nitrogen (total-N) and nitrate-N (NO3--N) concentration can improve crop nutritional husbandry. In this study, the relationship between shoot relative growth rate (RGR) and shoot total-N, organic-N and NO3--N concentration of hydroponically-grown lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. capitata L. cv. Kennedy) was described and simula...
متن کاملExogenous Glycine Nitrogen Enhances Accumulation of Glycosylated Flavonoids and Antioxidant Activity in Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)
Glycine, the simplest amino acid in nature and one of the most abundant free amino acids in soil, is regarded as a model nutrient in organic nitrogen studies. To date, many studies have focused on the uptake, metabolism and distribution of organic nitrogen in plants, but few have investigated the nutritional performance of plants supplied with organic nitrogen. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), one ...
